Partnership with Beacon Village

Beacon Village and Metanoia Peace Community have been ministerial partners of Bridgeport UCC for years.  In May of 2021, after the Portland City Council passed the Shelter to Housing Continuum, BUCC and Beacon Village formed an agreement to create a community of houseless residents in the Montavilla Neighborhood. 

Direct services to 10 residents are run by Beacon Village in partnership with BUCC.  Sometime in the future, we will also open a day center to better serve the needs of those currently underhoused. Services provided include referrals and access to mental health support, addiction resources, healthcare, employment and life skills.  Most of all our joint endeavor creates community for those who are socially or economically on the margins. 

Bridgeport United Church of Christ believes that we have a responsibility to care and advocate for people in the neighborhood regardless of their status.
