Chris Edwards, Choir Director

Welcome to Chris Edwards, our new Choir Director!

Chris is a graduate student in Choral Conducting at Portland State University, and he has been involved in choirs for almost two decades. Most recently, Chris served for ten years in the music program at St. James’s Episcopal Church, a 2200-person urban parish in downtown Richmond, VA. Chris’ musical interests and experience range from traditional sacred choral works (Renaissance to the present) to the not-so-traditional. Chris plays guitar, banjo and mandolin.

Chris writes, “I am fascinated by secular expressions of love, justice, acceptance, compassion, and forgiveness in a variety of musical genres that might be applicable in a sacred setting. I have a passion for music and its potential to be a vessel through which people from all walks of life might experience the holy and the divine.”

Chris is married to Whitney Edwards, who is now the Associate Rector at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, located on the campus of Oregon Episcopal School.
